Start 2019 with a gift to future generations…
…by participating in the WikiTree Scan-a-Thon!
On the weekend of January 11-14, 2019, WikiTree and GeneaBloggersTRIBE will kick off the new year by hosting a 72-hour image scanning marathon! We encourage genealogists and family historians from around the world to participate.
The goal of the Scan-a-Thon is to scan (of course) and upload photos and other items such as letters, postcards, funeral cards, and primary documents. You can also upload documents you’ve previously scanned.
Photos and documents can truly enhance our research, giving a face to our ancestors and details to their lives that we might otherwise not have.
This is why we’re encouraging everyone to join us in preserving this important part of our family history!
How GeneaBloggersTRIBE Can Help
WikiTree has invited TRIBE bloggers, vloggers, and podcasters to not only participate but to also help us spread the word! YOU are the key to helping this truly become a worldwide event. Help us give this amazing gift to future generations.
Volunteers can participate during the 72-hour period by scanning photos and documents in their collection and uploading them to the Internet. Members of WikiTree can register here. Non-WikiTreers can sign up here.
Live chats will be hosted every few hours during the three-day event for participants to cheer each other on. Join us in one of these chats for the opportunity to have some fun and promote your blog. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested.
As an extra incentive, we will have TWO AWESOME PRIZES: Flip-Pal is generously donating a scanner. Their partner Vivid-Pix is donating a license for their RESTORE software, perfect for restoring old photos and documents that have been scanned. To be entered to win the scanner or RESTORE software, please email email@example.com with a link to your Scan-a-Thon blog post.
Please also share your link to the Link Party at the bottom of this post. This way we can share and promote each others’ posts.
As a bonus for your readers, we will also give away two Scan-a-Thon t-shirts. They can enter to win by sharing their uploaded photos on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram using the hashtags #wikitree and #geneabloggerstribe.
Thank you for helping us to make this a successful event!
