My name is Wendy Mathias. I have lived my entire life in Virginia, much like many of my ancestors. I am a graduate of James Madison University and a retired teacher. My husband Barry and I have two daughters and four grandchildren. We divide our time between our home in Chesapeake and our vacation home at Smith Mountain Lake.
My mother sparked my interest in genealogy about 30 years ago when she dragged me along to help her do research. Since retiring, I have expanded my research which I share on my blog, Jollett Etc.
When I am not looking for my own family, I index for FamilySearch and the Greene County Historical Society. As Registrar for the Fort Nelson Chapter of VA DAR, I help others in their search for a patriot ancestor and in gathering supporting documentation to apply for membership. In addition to DAR, I am a member of the Greene County Historical Society (Virginia) and Virginia Genealogical Society.
One activity that I am especially proud of is being a member of the May I Introduce to You team at Geneabloggers (now GeneaBloggersTRIBE) the past three years.
