Eowyn LangholfHi! I’m Eowyn.  I currently live in New Mexico but that’s always subject to change. I grew up as an Air Force brat with a military father and we moved every couple of years plus I seem to have inherited my birth mother’s gypsy spirit. These two things combined make it hard for me to stay in one spot for very long, though I do love the Land of Enchantment.
I first got into genealogy as a teenager. My mom volunteered at the LDS Family History Center every week and during the summers she would take me with her. My paternal grandfather was extremely into family history and I had binders with his notes. It gave me extreme satisfaction to sit and fill out family group sheets and pedigree charts and it was during this time that my love for family history was instilled.
I’m adopted and have been fortunate enough to meet my birth mother and learn enough that I could research her side of my family. I only knew my birth father’s name but thanks to DNA testing I discovered his sister (my aunt!) and we’ve been working to piece together our family on his side.
I’ve been working as a professional genealogist since 2009 and have had some amazing doors open for me that led to great experiences. I’m the Forest Elf for an online collaborative family tree site called WikiTree. I worked closely with author A.J. Jacobs as his Chief Cousin Connector for the Global Family Reunion. I absolutely love what I do. I have a special place in my heart for helping adoptees connect with their biological families.
I’ll be blogging about my family history on my website:Turning Hearts Genealogy. I also manage the WikiTree blog.
