Poppies for Rememberance Day Remembrance Day honors those who died during World War I and World War II.

On November 11, 1918 the armistice between the Allies and Germany was signed at Compiègne, France.  It took effect at 11.00 h,  the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.”

OfficeHolidays.com reports, “After the ‘end’ of the war in 1918, it didn’t take long before the signing of the armistice was adopted as a suitable time and date for countries involved in the war to mark the sacrifice of their soldiers, with official remembrance services taking place in the UK and USA in 1919.”
