Dec 7, 1942. Folksinger/ songwriter Harry Chapin was one of only five songwriters to receive the Special Congressional Gold Medal for hisdevotion to the issue of hunger throughout the world. Born at New York, NY, he was killed in a car accident July 16, 1981, at Long Island, NY.
