amazing

In less than a week, a core group of some twenty (yes 20!) volunteers pulled together the GeneaBloggersTRIBE website. We’ve taken on such things as domain registration, WordPress installation, resource listings and have developed robust plans to support a variety of genealogy content providers. Have you noticed though, we have a lopsided team from a diversity point of view?

Honestly, the call went out over a holiday weekend in the US while many were away from their keyboards.

That was Phase 1.

Build Community

Phase 2

If we are to make a go of supporting our 3,000+ members inherited from the blogging side of GeneaBloggers(1) we’ve got to build a cohesive sense of community. And that takes all types of content providers, who elect to publish under any variety of titles such as bloggers, podcasters, vloggers, content curators and micro-bloggers. (I had to look that last one up.)

And it’s going to take people from all walks of life. Folks who read my own blog or attend my hangouts know Ol’ Myrt here loves celebrating our diverse cultural heritage. We honor our ancestors when we ‘say their names’ and ‘tell their stories.’ Many of our members are doing this quite well. We want to spotlight particularly poignant stories about genealogical research breakthroughs. (There are no coincidences!) We’d like to see some additional folks join the GeneaBloggersTRIBE Team, volunteering perhaps 1 hour a month in the following areas:

  • Useful blogging platform tips and tricks (your discoveries, or content you recommend curating)
  • Content distribution platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest, etc.
  • Submitting links to your posts that describe how folks in your home country view family history
  • Submitting links to your posts describing research challenges in an ancestor’s locality or time period.
  • Submitting links to your posts describing research challenges for a specific ethnic group.

We’d like to hear from you! Send a note to moc.l1508290887iamg@1508290887EBIRT1508290887sregg1508290887olBae1508290887neG1508290887 with your ideas. The only thing we are not doing is inserting affiliate links on our site.

Yes, we do plan to continue the tradition of sharing blogger beads with our members at national genealogy conferences throughout the world. It’s about building that sense of community!
